Travis Axe Departs from Moondog Matinee
2Dear family, friends, and fans…
I have recently been hearing many different things about the current state and future of Moondog Matinee. I have also been asked many questions ranging from booking, our projected goals, to my personal and professional association with the band. I have been postponing any comment for sometime now as it is a difficult subject for me to discuss. So, allow me to (attempt to) set the record straight with one, single passage.
As many of you know I underwent shoulder surgery about a month ago. (I appreciate all who reached out in regards to my well-being; I am having a very successful rehabilitation, thank you). This obviously left me incapacitated and unable to play an instrument or serve as a functioning member of the band (or society to that matter). However, upon my recovery I will regrettably not be returning to Moondog Matinee. I truly say this with a shaken heart and a tattered mind. I have not been fired or kicked out of my own band that I started years ago; I am resigning strictly on my own will.
While shoulder trama and other medical setbacks are indeed considerable factors in my flexibility towards the band they are not the primary reason for my departure. Just like every other rock and roll band that has ever existed on this planet there were unfortunate disparities among individuals regarding the song writing process, the distinctive place and respect for one another, and the ultimate direction of the band. Who is (more) right and (more) wrong at this point is irrelevant. I can no longer justify chasing a dream in exchange for my integrity, my unique ideas, and my stern belief on how to succeed; regardless of the other flaws I am burdened with.
With that said I would like to state that I am proud of what we have done and where Moondog Matinee is today. I am grateful that I spent years writing songs and playing music only to see it manifest into a truly admirable album. It is a remarkable milestone that I will always carry with an unexplainable sense of nostalgia. I deeply care for almost every person that I have worked with to make this possible. I will continue on as an avid fan of Moondog Matinee and I urge all of my friends and family to do the same. The guys in that band are all exceptionally talented musicians and are capable of achieving great things. I wish Moondog Matinee nothing but the best of luck in their future endeavors.
I wrote this message to be informative – for clarification to the public. This is not a debate or a discussion. Please, be respectful to myself and to the band. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Travis Axe

WASHINGTON
0The state of Washington has proved to be just a corteous as Oregon. When we find ourselves in a situation that seems uncomfortable or unsure, some one always seems to step out of nowhere and grace us with fortuitous hospitality. We received great home cooked meals in Spanaway, scored free tickets to the Experience Museum, and enjoyed hot showers in the home of strangers. Our bus fares were waived when we couldn’t scrap together the correct amount of change and we have been eagerly welcomed into the green room of any venue we have entered.
Although we have been gone a short amount of time, we have felt the impact of all the people we have met – including many bands. A couple more weeks and we would easily become locals – wedging our way into the respective niche of the local music scene; or attempting to for that matter. Moondog Matinee, although accepted among fellow musicians, still stand out in our own way. We still hold true to the abrasive desert lands we hail from – and keep driving forward with what we know and love. We are eager to return to Washington soon and play at some other venues with amazing local bands like Fox and The Law.
Spider webs are being strung about the city roads and alleyways – weaving slowly but steadily into the ears of the unsuspecting souls of the north…
Oregon

The landscapes of Oregon may very well be the most beautiful and serene in the entire country. And the only thing more beautiful than Oregon’s setting is Oregon’s beer. And the only thing more beautiful than Oregon’s beer is Oregon’s people.
We have been very well received since we crossed the state-line. Venue owners have given us extra drinks and even cash beyond what was promised. We snagged some free shirts, free meals, and an old hippie even provided us with some free……….incense.
Bend is already feeling like home and all of us agree it could be an easy move to transistion from Reno to here without much hesitation. There have been more wild, erratic, odd, and priceless things that have happened in the past three days then the past three months. But these stories are ones to be told at another time.
For now we are prepping the bus to take us on the last and ultimate leg of our Oregon tour: Portland.
Tour Kickoff
0After a ridiculous all night drive we successfully arrived in Bend Oregon around 6:00am this morning, just in time to watch the sunrise. The moon lit the snow-covered land scape which provided quite a surreal setting. It was light enough to see distant bluffs, and also the ground was illuminated in that we could luckily spot the 5 deer that our bus almost plastered all over the highway.
We are now greeted with gracious amounts of hospitality from the Carpenter household. A hot shower and a home-made turkey dinner should provide the necessary components to put on phenominal show tonight and rock the shit out of Bend.
More to come…
