At first, the sound isn't heard. It's a feeling that starts in the soles of your feet and moves up the spine to infect the soul. When it comes out, it is as gritty as it is slick and shakes the rafters in one beautiful yalp. It's a sound felt a long time ago, back when men greater than us sought out to change the world. And when the world needs a change from us, the sound will be felt again. We are Moondog Matinee and this is live.

Best described as "pseudo-sexual anarchy with an inkling of lustful innocence," Moondog Matinee is a 5-peice band of wandering heathens from Reno, NV. With a Rock & Soul sound as derivative, yet undeniably authentic, the chaotic grace that exudes from their live performance will haunt you for years to come. Lead by enigmatic front-man Peter Woolf Barnato, the group is comprised of Adam Carpenter (Bass), Steve Widmer (Guitars), Drea Ballard (Guitars), and Ben Ingle (Drums).

Part British invasion, part SF psychedelia, and a hefty dose of garage rock rich with grit and soul, Moondog Matinee is as retro as The Rolling Stones, The Faces, and The Band (from whose classic album they drew their name), but as current as the rock acts who've mined the blues this century - from The White Stripes to The Alabama Shakes.

In 2011, the band released their debut album, Vacancy at the Wonder Lodge, later performing at Life as Beautiful Festival and Psychedelic Holiday Freak Out in Seattle. Following their sophomore release, Carry Me, Rosie, the band's polished sound and rabid fan base landed them headlining performances at Offbeat Festival, Hard Rock Hotel, Lightning in a Bottle, and more.

In 2016, Moondog Matinee signed with management company, I Dreamt Last Night (Thievery Corp, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob), and released their first live EP, Live From the Moon Room. The 4-track release debuted on national radio in tandem with their headlining performance at the 2016 Reno Sculpture Fest. Music videos for "Gold" and "Ghost Dime" are scheduled to premiere on the upcoming Reno Sessions, airing before Austin City Limits in July of 2016.

"So, yeah, let's move Moondog Matinee from the "bad ass record makers" column and now sit them astride the line between that category and the "kicks fucking ass live" column.... This dude sounds like the entire year of 1979, cocaine, Jack Daniels, and dropping out of school at the same fucking time." - SYFFAL

"...plenty of grit and attitude mixed in: a credit to its devotion to the electric blues of the 1960s and ’70s. Part British Invasion, part San Francisco psychedelia, part garage jam — and centered on lead singer Peter Barnato’s visceral, soulful yowl." - Reno Gazette Journal

"...their music conveys a deep, rich understanding of gritty rock and roll that sounds like it was developed decades ago." -

"Frontman Pete Barnato continuously represents showmanship at its finest. Do yourself a solid and pen their next show into your calendar, STAT." - Seattle Music Insider

"Lead singer Peter Barnato rekindles the golden era of gritty-voiced lead singers, while the rest of the band carries a thrusting and quivering ferocity that yearns of Blind Melon and The Black Crowes" - Glide Magazine

"Remember when the blues were an important part of rock 'n' roll?  Moondog Matinee remembers, and they have rewritten the book on blues rock." -

"Moondog Matinee is the epitome of blues and rock 'n' roll.  Their forthcoming sophomore album, Carry Me Rosie, set to be released this summer, is an explosive fusion of drums, electric guitar, and powerhouse vocals." - Spill Magazine

"Ever head that song that sends shivers up your back, those shivers of ecstasy?  Well, "Ghost Dime" is one of those songs." -

"These guys put out the good vibes reminiscent of bands like CCR, complete with excellent musical prowess across the lineup." - Pen's Eye View
